Beginning January 2023, we conceptualized and launched a community contributor program for the San Fernando Valley Sun. The program aimed to reinvent the way high school sports were covered by the Sun, and develop a symbiotic relationship with the newspaper and community members. This toolkit details our steps and thought processes in creating the program.

1. Project Abstract

This project aimed to develop a collaboration between invested community members and their local newspaper to reinvent the way high school sports are covered, while also nurturing a relationship between the community and the paper. We began by brainstorming and conceptualizing the final product we wanted to deliver, and then identified and contacted stakeholders in the high school sports community. Finally, we began developing relationships with these contacts and building out the technology necessary to complete the program.
